FAQ

What is USINO?

USINO is an independent intelligence platform dedicated to the AI and technology supply chain corridor between the United States, and Asia, particularly China. We track how policy decisions, corporate developments, and geopolitical shifts on one side of the Pacific create consequences on the other — and we translate that into clear, actionable intelligence for readers at every level.

Who is USINO for?

USINO serves three distinct audiences through three tiers of content.

General readers and professionals who want to stay informed on US-Asia AI developments access our free Daily and Weekly Brief and Insights articles. Retail investors seeking company-level intelligence purchase our Retail reports — focused PDF analyses of specific companies, supply chains, and competitive dynamics. Institutional clients including hedge funds, family offices, private equity, and venture capital firms engage our Institutional research — comprehensive reports applying our full analytical framework with scenario modeling and valuation frameworks.

Is USINO affiliated with any government, political body, or financial institution?

No. USINO is fully independent. We have no commercial relationship with any government, political party, company, or financial institution. We do not accept advertising or sponsored content. Our research reflects our own analytical conclusions — nothing else.

What does USINO stand for?

USINO represents the corridor our research covers — the United States, and the Indo-Pacific including China, Northeast Asia, and Southeast Asia. The name reflects our core focus: the intersection where US and Asian technology, policy, and capital meet.

Research Methodology

How does USINO conduct its research?

USINO applies a Human-in-the-Loop AI model. Here is what that means in practice.

AI tools scan and synthesise large volumes of primary sources — regulatory filings, earnings call transcripts, official government statements, industry publications, and verified newswire reporting. This gives our research team broad coverage across multiple languages and jurisdictions simultaneously.

Human analysts then verify, contextualise, and apply independent judgement to everything the AI surfaces. No content is published without human review. The AI accelerates research. Humans determine what it means.

What sources does USINO draw on?

Our research draws on primary sources wherever possible. These include official publications from the US Bureau of Industry and Security, the US Trade Representative, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China’s Ministry of Commerce, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and equivalent regulatory bodies across Asia.

We also draw on earnings call transcripts, corporate filings, verified industry publications including Nikkei Asia, Digitimes, Reuters, and specialist semiconductor and technology trade press. We do not rely on anonymous sources or unverified social media content.

What is the Balanced Statement and why does every report include one?

The Balanced Statement is USINO’s editorial commitment to intellectual honesty. Every piece of analysis we publish — from a Daily and Weekly Brief edition to an institutional report — closes with a structured summary presenting the strongest legitimate case from the US-led perspective, and the strongest legitimate case from China’s perspective, before drawing our analytical conclusion. We recognize that Asia is not a monolithic bloc — nations across the region navigate their own distinct positions between these two poles, and our analysis reflects that complexity. We do not advocate for either side. We map the terrain as accurately as we can and let readers reach their own conclusions..

We do this because the US-China technology relationship is genuinely contested terrain. Informed people on both sides hold legitimate positions. Readers who only encounter one side of the argument are not fully informed. USINO does not advocate for either side. We map the terrain as accurately as we can and let readers draw their own conclusions.

What analytical frameworks does USINO apply?

Every Retail and Institutional report applies three frameworks in combination.

Examines the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats facing the company or policy subject under review. We apply this at both the company level and the broader ecosystem level.

Analysis maps the Political, Economic, Social, and Technological macro drivers shaping the subject. We pay particular attention to how regulatory changes in one country cascade through supply chains in others.

Inversion Thinking, drawn from Charlie Munger’s mental model framework, asks what would have to be true for the consensus view to be completely wrong. This discipline consistently surfaces risks and opportunities that conventional forward-looking analysis misses. It is the analytical layer that most distinguishes USINO’s work from standard industry research.

How does USINO handle accuracy?

Every factual claim in our research is traced to a primary or verified secondary source before publication. Where data is estimated or projected rather than confirmed, we say so explicitly. Where sources conflict, we present both versions and explain the discrepancy rather than selecting the more convenient number.

We incorporate leading Chinese-language large language models alongside English-language research tools to ensure our coverage of Chinese companies and policy developments is not limited by language or source access.

If we make an error we correct it transparently and notify subscribers who received the affected edition.
